The career and community based vocational and transition program supports Metro Nashville Public School students with disabilities, ages 18-22, who have graduated with a Special Education and/or an occupational diploma.

Our school-to-work transition program operates in several sites体育投注 – businesses and non-profits -- located throughout Davidson County, where students can experience supervised work-related learning activities in a variety of settings to develop skills relevant to future employment.

体育投注The Community Based Training program also helps young adults understand and implement the work place accommodations they may need.

 Students will learn:

  •  Job skills

  • 体育投注Community involvement

  • 体育投注Self-advocacy

  • Social skills

  • Appropriate work behavior

  • Travel training

  • Independent living skills


 Partnering with Business and Non-Profits

体育投注This program is a collaborative partnership between MNPS, businesses and non-profit organizations who commit to offering our students real-life workplace experiences that help them grow into achieving paid competitive employment.  

Our students can train and work in businesses and non-profits to perform necessary job tasks such as:

  • Sorting

  • Light cleaning, (i.e., Sweeping, vacuuming, wiping)

  • Office support, (i.e., shredding. copying, filing)

  • Stocking supplies

  • Food preparation

  • Filling supply orders

  • 体育投注Folding, (i.e., towels, boxes, clothing)


Project SEARCH

体育投注 Project SEARCH is a one-year internship for students with disabilities who are ready for intensive job training and employment.

  • The program takes place in a business setting, currently a local hotel, where total immersion in the workplace facilitates the teaching and learning process, as well as the acquisition of employability and marketable work skills. 

  • 体育投注Project SEARCH students participate in three internship rotations to explore a variety of jobs.

  • 体育投注The students work with a team that includes their family, a special education teacher, Vocational Rehab and Progress, Inc. to create an employment goal and support the student during this important transition from school to work. 

体育投注Our student graduates have found employment in hotels, hospitals, restaurants, colleges and retail stores, among others.
