Metro Schools welcomes students, teachers and staff for the 2019-2020 school year on Monday, August 5.
From immunizations to bus route information, this page will serve as a central location for parents to find everything related to the start of the 2019-20 school year.
We will update this page with information students and parents will need to get ready for the start of school.

Family Portal: A New App just for parents
Our MNPS Family Portal now consists of two apps: One app for students and one just for parents.
The upgrade and switch to separate apps grants additional access and modification capabilities in Campus Parent that do not exist in the Campus Student account.
Why use the Family Portal apps? You can see real-time class and assignment grades, homework, test scores, upcoming due dates, attendance information, discipline incidents and more.

Campus Parent and Campus Student Apps integrate in the MNPS ParentLink mobile app that gives you easy access to school notifications, lunch menus and your school social media channels. Be sure to download the MNPS App. Details below.

Please note: Although some name brands are listed on Back to School lists, generic items are acceptable. Please contact your child’s with specific questions.

August 5: First Day of School – Full Day for Grades 1 to 12; Half Day for Pre-K and K.
August 30: Students do not report to school. Teacher Personal Development Day.

Back to School Community Events
July 27体育投注: The Back to School Teacher Celebration and Community Supply Drive is a two-part event that will take place at four Metro Nashville public school locations. The celebration will be an opportunity to distribute free school supplies to MNPS teachers before the school year begins and host a city-wide school supply drive. July 27: 7th Annual Love’s Healthy Start Festival sponsored by state Rep. Harold Love and MNPS, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Hadley Park, 1037 28th Ave. North. Families receive a free backpack for every school age child in attendance. Music will be provided by schools in the northwest and northeast quadrants and Metro Nashville municipal departments will have representatives present to offer information and resources. Lots of games, food and activities.

August 3体育投注: Northeast Quadrant Back to School Bash sponsored by Metro Schools, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., East Park Community Center, 600 Woodland Street. This event will offer wellness checks including dental check-ups and eye exams. Some vendors will offer school supplies and resource information to support families in the community. MNPS departments will provide information to families to support enrollment and absenteeism. Children activities include urban radio station DJ's providing giveaways, food trucks and bounce houses.
August 3: Metro Nashville Police Department Back to School Bash, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Carter Lawrence Elementary School, 1118 12th Ave. South.
August 4: Back-2-School Bash sponsored by the Charm Foundation, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Kirkpatrick Community Center, 998 Sevier Street. There will be free backpacks filled with school supplies, health screenings and haircuts. Children’s activities include face painting, balloon artist and snacks.

Every year, the Metro Schools transportation department delivers more than 35,000 students to and from school everyday. That’s more than 70,000 bus stops that travel over 28,000 miles.
Students who attend their zoned school, and who live more than 1.25 miles from school (1.5 miles for high schools), are eligible for school bus transportation.
Letters with your school bus number and bus stop will be mailed Tuesday, July 23.

Saturday Enrollment Hours
Saturdays in July, from 9 a.m. to noon, you can visit McGavock High School, 3150 McGavock Pike, and the MNPS Family Information Center at 2601 Bransford Avenue for assistance with enrollment and student transfers.
Immunizations and REquired Forms
All students entering Kindergarten, the 7th grade, or who are new enrollees to MNPS, must have an updated which may be obtained by your pediatrician or the Metro Public Health Department.
Metro Health Department clinics 体育投注are open from 7:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for walk-in vaccinations. No appointments are necessary and families should carry their child’s shot record to confirm what immunizations are needed. Eligible children may receive free vaccinations.
